Question
It states that samples need to be provided using the same materials and processes as used in the roll cage element welds. Our roll cage uses two materials, 1-1/4" tubing for primary members and 1" tubing for secondary members. Our roll cage includes the following joints: Primary to primary, Secondary to secondary, secondary to primary and primary to secondary. Do I need two samples for each of these joints? For a total of 8 samples? If not do the judges prefer to have these samples made from primary tubing, secondary tubing or a combination of the two?
Answer
You only need to provide a welding sample for the primary material.  You are encouraged to do other welding samples as a way to assess your welding abilities, but they are not required at inspection.
